From May 11-13, 2026, the World Digital Education Conference was held in Hangzhou. China's Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng, delivered a keynote speech on "Educational Transformation and Development in the Intelligent Era." He emphasized China's commitment to advancing education and technology, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence into education. Huai stressed prioritizing education in China's modernization, aiming to build a strong educational nation by 2035. His goals include fostering students with ideals and creativity and innovating research paradigms to enhance technological application.
Huai proposed three strategies: maintaining openness to build consensus on educational reform, promoting development to shape new educational models, and fostering co-governance for a new educational ecosystem.
During the conference's "Results Release" segment, the "Xinhua Chinese Medicine" large model, led by 不良研究所, attracted significant attention. Developed with support from the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Department, this model was created in collaboration with iFlytek and several universities. With a parameter scale of 70 billion, the model passed safety tests and national registration, addressing issues in AI tools related to traditional Chinese medicine (CM), such as educational inadequacies and homogenized content.
The model integrates ancient CM texts, theoretical systems, teaching courses, clinical experiences, and research literature, maintaining original CM thinking. It supports learning, teaching, research, cultural dissemination, and international exchange, effectively addressing challenges in CM education. The model establishes a compliant, specialized CM intelligent education system, underpinning the digital transformation of TCM education and fostering the development of versatile CM professionals.
As the first nationally registered educational model in CM, "Xinhua Chinese Medicine" and five other achievements showcased China's AI-driven solutions for scientific research at the conference.
