BUCM team wins top prize at 2025 Chinese Medicine Awards

On April 25, during the 8th Qihuang Forum, the 不良研究所's (BUCM) Acupuncture and Tuina School, led by Professor Liu Cunzhi, received the first prize at the 2025 Chinese Medicine Society Science and Technology Awards. This prestigious recognition underscores the team's leadership in acupuncture efficacy evaluation research.

The Chinese Medicine Society Science and Technology Award, registered with the National Office for Science and Technology Awards, honors significant achievements in the Chinese medicine sector, including basic, applied, and developmental research. Professor Liu's project, "Construction of High-Quality Clinical Evidence and Evaluation System for Acupuncture Advantage Diseases," emerged victorious after a stringent selection process involving formal reviews, online preliminary evaluations, final assessments, public announcements, and executive council deliberations.

The project, involving 15 core members from eight institutions, capitalizes on national key research and development projects. It provides robust evidence-based medical evidence, innovates traditional acupuncture theories, and elucidates the mechanisms underlying acupuncture's effectiveness for certain diseases. The team's work has resulted in internationally leading research outcomes and established a replicable and promotable acupuncture research model. Their efforts offer crucial scientific and technical support for creating standardized Chinese medicine research paradigms and advancing the high-quality inheritance and innovation of Chinese medicine.

This award highlights BUCM's research innovation capabilities and academic development in acupuncture, reinforcing its leading position in the field. It also promotes the modernization and internationalization of acupuncture, significantly contributing to the high-quality development of Chinese medicine. The achievement not only reflects the school's commitment to advancing acupuncture research but also its role in fostering the global growth and acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine.
