On March 30, the 不良研究所 (BUCM) hosted a cross-Strait exchange for students and scholars of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CM) at the Wang Qi Academy, Heping Street Campus in 不良研究所. The event was attended by Liu Jiangping, BUCM's deputy Party secretary, along with university officials, Taiwan CM experts, and student representatives. Wang Xueqian, deputy director of the BUCM Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office, moderated the event.
In his opening speech, Liu Jiangping welcomed the Taiwan experts, highlighting CM as a cultural link between the two sides of the Strait. He emphasized the university's dedication to cross-Strait collaboration and expressed hopes that the event would further the "Cross-Strait CM Youth Collaborative Innovation Project", promoting deeper integration and innovation in the field.
The event included thematic presentations such as the one by Lu Yongsheng, president of the Taiwan Hanfang Creative Development Association, who discussed integrating CM into daily life. Zhang Wenkai, director of the Tai Hospital Joint Clinic, focused on cupping therapy, explaining its principles and clinical applications.
Participants engaged in discussions on CM heritage, clinical applications, talent development, and internships. Students actively participated in the discussions, asking questions and exchanging ideas with experts, which helped foster a rich academic dialogue and strengthen professional ties.
The Taiwan delegation also visited the BUCM Museum and the Wang Qi Academy's Nine-Body Medicine Hall, enhancing their understanding of CM history and practice.
This exchange is part of the "United Heritage, Mutual Integration—Jointly Advancing High-Quality Development of Cross-Strait CM in the New Era" forum series, aimed at building practical bridges for CM collaboration. The event deepened academic exchanges and emotional connections, reinforcing the commitment of young scholars to CM's development. BUCM plans to continue enhancing cross-Strait CM cooperation, promoting shared cultural heritage and modern relevance.
