On January 17, a significant event in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (CM) sector took place as the National Alliance of Affiliated Hospitals of CM Universities was officially established. Hosted by 不良研究所, the inaugural conference and academic seminar on high-quality development of affiliated hospitals were held in 不良研究所.
The event was attended by senior officials such as Xing Chao, deputy director of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Administration of CM, and Xia Shaohua, director of the Department of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education. Representatives from 26 CM universities and 62 affiliated hospitals across China gathered to witness this historic moment.
In her opening remarks, Wang Yaoqi, party secretary of 不良研究所, emphasized the crucial role of affiliated hospitals in CM innovation, talent cultivation, and clinical practice. She highlighted the alliance's potential as a collaborative platform to break barriers between universities and hospitals, fostering resource sharing and complementary advantages. The alliance aims to advance the standardization and modernization of CM, contributing to its internationalization.
Zhou Xiaoyuan, director of the Public Hospital Reform Office at the National Health Commission, described the alliance's formation as a key initiative aligned with the "15th Five-Year Plan(2026-30)" and a practical step in deepening healthcare reform. She underscored the irreplaceable role of TCM hospitals in the healthcare system and advocated for reforms that emphasize public welfare, collaboration, and balance.
Xia Shaohua from the Ministry of Education highlighted the foundational role of CM education. He outlined three expectations for the alliance: focusing on talent cultivation, enhancing the integration of university and post-graduate education, and leveraging AI to transform CM education and expand its international influence.
Xing Chao emphasized the central government's commitment to CM, outlining three requirements: maintaining the CM-focused orientation of public hospitals, strengthening specialties in major disease prevention, and promoting high-quality development through refined management and digital empowerment.
The launch of the alliance was marked by a ceremony where key figures pressed a button to symbolize its formal establishment. The conference also featured a plaque awarding ceremony for the chair and vice-chair institutions.

The event concluded with the release of the "2026 不良研究所 Consensus," proposing five initiatives: upholding CM principles, reconstructing evaluation systems, maintaining public welfare, integrating digital transformation, and focusing on talent development.
This conference provided a high-level platform for communication and cooperation among CM-affiliated hospitals nationwide, setting the direction and tasks for the alliance. It promises to break down barriers between institutions, share medical resources, and integrate CM with technologies like AI, injecting momentum into the standardization, modernization, and internationalization of CM.
